It’s not easy being a minimalist!

Being a minimalist is not as easy as it sounds. Buy less Choose better, which I have now been doing for years, is tricky, difficult,  time-consuming and truth be told not always fun. Impulse buying, surf shopping, Ig FOMO are all stacked against me. And no one I tell you is perfect at this.

(certainly not me)

Monotone colors, fewer better, blah blah blah. But this time of year is the best for a refresh, as my mother always said, (the original fashionista, and definitely not a minimalist.)
Now is the time to buy what you love, and buy what you wear, and truly at this point in your life you should know what looks good on you, what makes you feel great, and what you really are going to wear.

These are my faves that I have bought the past few months/year, and what I have been wearing on repeat, entertaining with, and most importantly traveling with.

I have tried a zillion T-shirts, I promise you there is no better for the money than ZSupply.

I walk a lot of steps per day, so I wear mostly sneakers, I have these New Pumas for serious running/walking, a crisp new pair of Stan Smiths, and my”’ i’m gonna walk to dinner but still want to look cute” Rag & Bone kicks.  I did buy a new pair of ballet flats, square toe.

Joggers are my go-to, usually worn with a 1/2 zip, quilted black vest or my teddy puffer. And on chillier mornings my long sherpa.

Sets are still here, and there are plenty out there, but I prefer to mix and match in the same tone, and my current fave are my Varley Joggers with my ALO Pullover. Also working are my grey joggers with a darker grey v-neck cashmere sweater. (everyone probably has this in their closet, and my grey joggers are old Zara and a very old COS cashmere sweater)

If you don’t own a ribbed cardigan then I suggest you buy one immediately it is the ultimate throw-on, mine is from H&M 3 years ago, and it was $24..99 I think I have worn it over 100 times. And the Everlane Dream Pant never gets old.

We have done a ton of entertaining over the past 2 years, and I bought this sweater dress for $55.00 during covid, I am pretty sure I have worn it 20 times, and it travels beautifully.

( just roll it up!)

My other go to for traveling is the Quince Silk Skirt with this cashmere crew, both bought again during covid.

I can’t say enough about these “bra tops” a hybrid somewhere between A sports bra and tank top, perfect under sweaters for an extra layer, or even under a tank, I wear one everyday.
This past year my eldest son got married, and I needed a jacket for my strapless dress, and I found the one from my new favorite brand Cinq À Sept, I have since worn it many times with my Tees and joggers. But if I had not bought the black I would have purchased the denim.

( 1 is enough)

And last, but certainly not least, my big splurge purchase was the CHANEL PREMIÈRE ÉDITION WATCH,  I had a big birthday this year, so this was a gift, because  you know you have to have some fun. But of course as usual it does double duty, it’s a bracelet watch, so it is also jewelry!

So there you have it, this was my idea of shopping as a minimalist in 2022. These pieces are classic, packable and all can be switched around and most importantly a definite high-low mix,

XoXo💙
