Would You Rather...?

Would You Rather...?

It seems everyone has their “thing” that they will or won't spend money on. Whether it was something your mother never spent money on or it was something your mother always spent money on (because it was worth it) we seem to carry those ideas with us through our lives. My friends all have different things they will or won't spend money on and I’ve found it is almost impossible to convince someone to change their mind. So no judgements, but here are some items to consider.

Workout Gear: I, for one, have never spent money on work-out clothes (I can hear Pam rolling her eyes). I can go for a year or even two and not buy a single athletic item. Yes, I work out almost every day, but I really don't want to allocate funds to that part of my closet. I am a big fan of Athleta (a Gap brand) and I can usually pick up a pair of Capris on sale. But Pam’s new favorite brand is L.A. based Alo, she thinks their leggings are totally worth the extra.

Cashmere: I do spend money on cashmere, my mother always told me that a well made cashmere sweater can last for years. TSE has been my brand for quite a while and I love this buttoned-up sweater. But is it really all that different than the much less expensive J. Crew?

T-shirts: I don't care how much you spend they won't last forever and you will have to replace the white ones pretty often, thus the popularity of the infamous and inexpensive 3-pack from Alternative Apparel. But if you really want to splurge, my friends swear by the v-neck tees at Rag & Bone.

Fanny Packs: The fanny pack is a very trendy accessory right now and yes, the Gucci belt bag is “THE ONE”. If you want to try out the trend but not get too committed, the Everlane fanny pack is the way to go.

Sneakers: I am a purist when it comes to my sneakers and I wear Adidas Stan Smiths. I love looking down at my shoes because it brings back great memories of high school. But I can't lie, I desperately want to pull the trigger on this pair of Golden Goose.

Totes: To be perfectly honest, I have never been a fan of Longchamp but the other day I saw this totally cool girl wearing this all-black version of the famous bag and I wanted it! I then met a client for dinner who was sporting the Prada nylon tote and I thought no judgments here but the Longchamp tote was about $800.00 dollars cheaper, just sayin’!

We’d love to hear about what you spend money on and what you really really hate handing over the dollars for. Let us know in the comments below.

Okay - Pam and I spot so many Kool Girls around town and are always snapping secret photos so we remember their great street style ideas. So, welcome to our first installment of “Spotted on the Subway”- where we’ll share our game of “I Spy”!

This week I spotted the chicest woman wearing camo socks with cropped jeans and Nikes. It seems like decorative socks are becoming a “thing” and here are three good choices.
